Friday 30 July 2010. taking it easy….

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Been a easy week at work, not to physical, except today in fits and spurts as we collected the fire wood up.

Natalie has been sick all week, coughing and sneezing. And genuinely feeling like poo…

I seam to be fighting it off so far, but not blowing my self apart tonight seamed like a good idea.

I needed to pay more attention to the new movements anyway, so focused on technique more than balls to the wall…. except on the sprawls where i seam to have gone a bit nuts!

My upper back is still recovering from all the chain sawing we have been doing lately so missed out the rows again.

not a bad work out then. just need to keep the technique and get the numbers up at the same time.

Wednesday 28 July 2010. Fear of the dark…

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Easy week at work so far. Was meant to be cutting more fire wood, but in a classic example of how the place works, i got stoped with the call

“NOT THAT ONE!”

when last week it was all go…. boss had tears running down his face, it was that funny. But it leaves us in work limbo as the big wigs try to make up there minds with what they wont. … sigh…

Missed out on training sunday. I was trying to be the good boy, but was greeted with “oh we thought you would be at  training?”

Parents in law have set up another family thing next sunday morning as well….

Its all a bit hard on Natalie, who also has a cold at the moment, but I’m not missing any more training for them. I would rather spend time with people who can fake liking me much better! ;-)

Lifting night to night. Turn up to the gym to find there is no power. Getting a bit sick of the poop that goes on around here.

Was going to lift in the dark and to hell with it. Had my cell phone, thats enough light to see, but Naty brought me a candle. sweet girl. she even stayed and counted reps for me. The most romantic wight lifting ever? :-P

Not a bad nights lifting, Trap bar going well. Not as gassed as i was, breathing all good. Now the legs are starting to work, not hard yet, but it wont be long and the fight will be on.

Dips and pull ups are progressing as they should. All and all quite happy, and my back injury is becoming a pale memory…

weekend warrior/snow bunny….

No training this weekend, not by design, though my body needed the rest, but too busy doing some baby prep stuff.

Saturday at my Mum’s fixing a few bits and bob’s. If Nat and I end up kicked out of our place on site, mum has offered to put us up for as long as we need. So did a little prep, for the worst case scenario.

Wow! I have a lot of wight lifting gear!

Sunday I should have been at training with the gang, but instead went skiing… i mean had breakfast, with Natalie’s family….cold…. brrrrr.

Then bought some baby stuff… blar… blar…blar… ;-)

Then spent the afternoon/evening putting together a new dresser to put all the baby guff into.

Mmmmmm high quality MDF.  I must be getting better at this, i didn’t  have any bits left over!

Next time I see you, remind me not to talk to you.

friday 23 july 2010. bottoms up!

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Went to bed early last night. just plain tied. And was then woken by Natalie at 4:30-am  as the little girl in her belly started doing cartwheels. or so it seamed. It’s damn cool to able to feel her move around under my hand.

Went back to  sleep, but when I got up for  work, found that my thumb didn’t move much at all!

Saved from any more chain sawing by the rain. spent the day in the shed doing sweat FA. Boss decided he was doing FA as well, so broke out a bottle of port and i helped him drink it. after that told me finish up what i was doing and go home. (3 fridays in a row!)

Its Friday so its the Protocol.

Marcus changed a couple of the movements, don’t know the real names, I’m shore someone will help. (hint, hint!)

did ok considering, the port, the week, the thumb, (witch was much better after the port!)

Legs were toast! Middle back still knotted so I missed out the rows for a day or two.

All in all a good session! Very happy with the progress. Marred slightly by a lightly pulled hamstring.

beautiful day…

Rained hard about 6am this morning, thought to my self, “grate another wet day”

But turned out to be one of those grate winters day, bright and fine not to cold and no wind trying to rip though you.

Nice…

Spent a couple of hours servicing the tip trailer, then picked up the chain saw for another 6 hours of fun…

Not to bad, at leaset i’m out in the fresh air, by my self. just me and melody of a screaming two stroke!

Still feeling tired, and those knots between my shoulder blades aren’t getting any smaller!

Back will be stiff tomorrow, but I’m still 100% better than i was a month ago.

Nice to be fit and healthy again.

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

woke up this morning as stiff as a board, back no bendy, thumb no grippy.

plain old tied and sore…

Improved once i was up and moving around. Light day at work, mowed some lawns, serviced the chain saws and cleaned up the shed once the rain had settled in.

Was not in high hopes of a grate work out, considering how my shoulder blades felt stitched together…

Took the trap bar nice and slow, getting the breathing right. By 20 reps the legs know they have done some work!

Dips and pull ups in a holding pattern this week, didn’t make the full 10 on pull ups so will repeat the wight next week.

Tomorrow i am supposed to have another 6 hours of chain saw work to do… unless its raining……

A damn good kicking…

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

2 hours spent pulling a down fence out of the river… wet socks!…. arrg…
6 hours cutting fire wood. 6 hours with a chainsaw in your hands is not fun…. thought i was tired yesterday.
went for a walk with Natalie before tea, then got her to put on my training shoes and give me a good kicking…
Sue was right ! Respect the boots! ;-)

One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas I’ll never know.

I am assuming that it is last week catching up on me.
My Hip aches. My thumb aches, and all i wont to do is go to sleep…..

Sunday 18 July 2010. Sunny happy day…

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

Its Sunday so its time to train in the park.
Marcus, Sue, Ben, Janet, Janet’s son,(insert name here.) and Me.

Started out with the strait and round punch Kotikitae drills.
Then build, build, build.
Added in, closing, bobbing, foot movement, head movement.
Switched to pad work and striking, with closing, bobbing, foot movement, and head movement.

See a theme?

Trying to get all the Karate folks moving.
Years of training to stand in one place and get hit need to be untrained!
I remember how frustrating and liberating it is to be allowed to move and not being able to!

Then revised the rear naked choke escape.
But first had to teach everyone how to put on a rear naked choke!
Lot’s of fun and rolling around on the ground.
We aren’t doing Brazilian Jujitsu, but still we all end up quite muddy by the end!

Finished off with conditioning.

All in all a pretty good morning, with every one looking a little more natural and less like stiff white clad puppets.!

Improvement!
