So at work today, I was on the John Deer tractor with the forks on the back moving pallets of bricks and other stuff around.
Backed up to a pallet on a slight rise, with the wheels of the tractor a foot down in the mud, as the wheels turn they make a bit more of a hole to sink into, manage to just lift the pallets of bricks with the hydraulics, but as I try to drive forward, instead of forward the front of the tractor comes up 2 feet!
The hole the wheels are in acted as a ramp. Everything I did after that either spun the wheels and dug the holes deeper or lifted the front again!
I put the pallet down, drove out, filled the holes with old broken bricks then tried to lift the pallet again.
As I tried to drive out again, up came the Front again!. Now this is a large tractor so its a little scary.
Fine! Plan B.
Now using the forks and pallet as a wheely bar, I set the hight so that the front wheels could only come a foot off the ground! So that as I drove forward out of the hole I dragged the pallet with me, with one foot of air under the wheels.
Its o.k I couldn’t steer any way. One hand was on the diff’ lock and the other was on the leaver controlling the rear forks hydraulics, just in case I had to dump the load!
Once I was out of the hole and down the little rise, the front wheels re-met the ground. Then a 5 minute drive to the pallets new home and the adventure was over.
Daz wheelys a tractor!
so how was your day?
