Sunday Uechi in the park, yay the weather held out.
Warmed up with kotikitae and bridging. Moved to padwork, slapping and backfists. Marcus identified a lack of mobility in my left shoulder, not surprising given the injury, but its really stuffing up the power generation on that side. So something to work on there. Lots of mechanics. Sensitivity drills, filling. Confrontational NLD, then conditioning to finish.
A really challenging thing for me, this NLD. I just choked. Some fundamental issues for me to confront regarding agression (my own lack of it) and mindset and …the whole point really.
Gosh, nothing small then.
NLD is one of the hardest drills to do.
Most see and don’t think much much of it because unless you do it and do it you fail to grasp the significance of it.
Many who try it stop after the first time because of what they experience.
So good for you Sue, NLD will help you address what you need to.
Thanks Rick, I know it will change me. Its not just about learning to be mean and nasty, which is difficult enough. I need to have intent, I need to think and act as an attacker. A defensive mindset wont cut it. And it neither will viewing it all as some kind of complex intellectual exercise.
Another paradigm shift.
This strange, utterly personal journey continues to throw challenges at me. Which is amazing, fantastic actually.
theres plenty of ways to work around the shoulder , its not hugely limited , just have to work what will work .
the drilling was purposely frustrating , and a really misundertood micro-moment IMHO . We need to do a lot of work on power generation and mindset before we can do anything else . It is all progress
