Thursday – Deadlifting.  40kg x 5. This is relatively easy but I want to start with that. Then Intuflow to music.

Daz, Marcus I have read and re-read the instructions for technique. Can you give me any pointers about repetitions? I’m not sure if I should do lots of repeats  at a lower weight or just a couple at the maximum I can achieve?

Friday – Tai Chi

Started with the usual 30 minutes of Qi Gong breathing exercises. Then working on the form. Lots of revision as we have missed a week.

Its a very mixed group – a couple of young mothers who do Mark’s kickboxing classes, a couple of grandparents of his young students, a couple of other adults.

Working on core, on connected movement, on continuous movement. Its all here – weightedness, grounding, dynamic balance, flow. The martial applications are there to be explored.

I’m shite at deadlifting , talk to Daz if hes up for it . What are you aiming at for etc ? . Really havent been following you lifitng , but always good to be informed and carefull . My gut reaction is light is good and more reps are nice to begin with , but you got to think objectives etc …… and not sure what your bodys up for ……

More reps makes sense to me. The body’s not completely shot. I think I’ll try for 10 reps at 40kg and 10 at 45kg. Then I’ll try to up the kgs.

gezz … where to start? more reps is good until you get a good feel for the movement. lighter is better for beginners on dead-lifts. people get carried away because they can lift a lot of weight on dead,s quite quickly. then get hurt because they let there form slip, then blame the exercise or decide there back is to week to do it. add wight slowly. a single kg a week is plenty.
    slowly slowly catchy monkey…
