Maybe I’m getting better
July 9th, 2011 by lairdHip injury took months to improve.
Rotor cuff improving , driving 13 hours a day is tough on it.
Diveritculitis is more or less under control.
Dropped from 232 down to 210
Think i’m good to go.
Found a potential training partner. He’s a parks carpenter, former hapkido guy. weird thing is he inherited my old space at the compound, so I may end up training at my old shop. that will be weird.
But the new job and all the luggage has been good for my body it’s time to get more serious about training. Weights flow and martial are finally on the horizon….it’s been a year but I think I can finally start to rebuild.
New training partner appears serious time will tell.
Rick funny thing is the guy is the spitting image of Ralph Klein only sobber and fit.
I’ve reached the point I don’t get too excited about new beginings, but I am encouraged with the progress I’ve made of late. maybe my day is not done.

Well I’m up to 20 hours on the quad this week. It’s taken a toll on my hip. Having some issues walking, lots of pain, so I left the quad at the shop today and dragged out the shovel. The snow was 4 feet deep up on the continental divide today. Great work out for my shoulders. Did a light weight circuit at the end of my shift. Deltoids are shot, decided to listen to the pain and call it a day.
I’ll ride the quad for 5 hours tomorrow and things will be pretty much dug out.
Did see a young bull moose today, that always makes my day.
Mobility work tomorrow look forward to that!
The Phoenix rises
January 16th, 2011 by lairdWell I got the go ahead from the folks at physio therapy to start getting serious about training again.
I’ve been playing with light weights and the bulgarian bag this week.
Love my new bulgarian bag, started with a medium but plan to order a large one next week. Best piece of gear I’ve bought to date!
Winter finally arrived we got some serious snow. Lots of highway closures…. and lots of shovel work for me…which is a great work out.
Yesterday I ran the quad for 6 hours pushing snow and never left the yard, but the equipment is now all dug out.
Today spent another 5 hours doing the same today at another location. Man turning the front end on that machine is just what the doctor ordered. I pushed five foot piles of snow all day.
We can’t access any the locations parks has contracted the company to service as all their equipment is trying to keep the only highway open and any where we need to go is buried.
Going to take a long time to dig out from this one!
Don’t fell like going back to the shop tonight to work out.
I’ll swing the bag, kettle bells and clubs in the morning. Then more time on the quad pushing snow….think I’ll need to do some flow fit at the end of the day tomorrow.
Got the quad stuck in 5 feet of snow today, regret not fixing the rear winch…that was a schit load of shoveling to dig it out. As soon as we get this park dug out and the snow stops it’s going to the shop for a new winch and a set of tracks. Tires just don’t cut it when the snow gets real deep.
Really enjoy training again my body missed it. If you stop moving….you stop moving.
Tac fit
March 11th, 2010 by lairdWell we finaly got it started, Day 1 program 1. Nine or 10 months to go!
Tonight felt good!
Also spent some time on sanchin , and lots of tactile work. Sticky hands into trapping , sticky hands into positional transfer etc. Was fun.
Jan 23, film it!
January 23rd, 2010 by lairdJust a night of review, we filmed it all. Carl played meat puppet for 2 hours non stop. Lots of retakes as we kept performing off frame. We need a camera person! Anyway Carl might be sore tommorrow. He also realised that a half hour of heavy club bell work makes the shoulders kind of tight and then really scream when they get locked.Think we will do the club bells after instead of before next time.

January 20th, 2010 by lairdtraining partner backed out….again! 2nd time this year, off to a great start.
Spent the night catching up on office work.
I decided to pay for my lazy day yesterday by building some boxes to start some plyometrics. Legs will thank me for it, I suspect I’ll have trouble walking for a few days.
