Mission 1 day 4

Well we finished the first high intensity night, skipped the lunges my hamstrings are screaming. The push ups are killer, cheated on them tonight, shoulders we not happy. Time to do some more club bell training.

I’m looking forward to the warm up cycle tommorrow it makes me feel great, it’s like a healing process.

Spent a couple of hours moving and piles of truck tires today…I’m bagged.

But hey we got two sinwalli dummies to pound on now!Small tires piled in the training space.

Decided to introduce some stick work into the mix…just because it’s been a long time and I’ve never done any stick work with the meat puppet.

Even though I tried to go easy on the moderate intensity day, the high intensity day was tough cause the legs were real tight.

Well we finaly got it started, Day 1 program 1. Nine or 10 months to go!
Tonight felt good!

Also spent some time on sanchin , and lots of tactile work. Sticky hands into trapping , sticky hands into positional transfer etc. Was fun.

Jan 23, film it!

January 23rd, 2010 by laird

Just a night of review, we filmed it all. Carl played meat puppet for 2 hours non stop. Lots of retakes as we kept performing off frame. We need a camera person! Anyway Carl might be sore tommorrow. He also realised that a half hour of heavy club bell work makes the shoulders kind of tight and then really scream when they get locked.Think we will do the club bells after instead of before next time.

training partner backed out….again! 2nd time this year, off to a great start.

Spent the night catching up on office work.

I decided to pay for my lazy day yesterday by building some boxes to start some plyometrics. Legs will thank me for it, I suspect I’ll have trouble walking for a few days.

Worked on absorbing shots, absorbing and returning, absorbing and picking up a limb.  Some NLD, some more lock principles explored. Worked on  teaching Carl to control EBG by grabbing a mit full of face. The lads too gentle.

We also worked on something that made my shoulders kind of tight…no idea what . Looking forward to intu flow on Wednesday.

the nonviolent side of F.E.U.R.

January 9th, 2010 by laird

Well we have trained since August. I’ll try to post to the blog with a bit more frequency.

We had a relatively easy night tonight, we didn’t break a sweat. One of my goals this year is to develop a few seminars. Complete with manuals and clips. I suspect it will become a two year project.

“Self defense for women.” ………………………….(Targets women)

“Surviving in a violent world”………………………(Targets the unisex market)

“So you’re a doorman, now what?”…………………(Targets bar staff)

“Tactical Response for Law enforcement officers”…(Targets LEO’s )

So tonight I taught Carl some new shoulder locks, wrist locks, finger locks, etc. We spent a lot of time on cuffing drills. We spent some time on small circle jujitsu. We worked arm bars. All of this stating in the upright grapples some of it going to the ground. Didn’t break a sweat but I suspect he might be sore any way.

It was a good night but we are going to have to revisit this material frequently

Tuesday, a night off

August 13th, 2009 by laird

Had planned to train Tuesday. Training partner bailed on me. Turns out the lad went camping in the mountains and got kind of lost for half the day. Spent a long time wandering around bashing branches off trees trying to hack his way back to the road. Eventually he found it again and was only two kilometers from his vehicle. But he was kind of worn out after the event so I gave him the night off and just spent the time editing some film. Guess I’ll have to put some bruises on him on Thursday.

No Sweat!

Yup didn’t even work up a sweat training last night. We mostly worked on kicking in the clinch. Ended up just leaning the heavy bag against a brick wall and giving it hell! My job was to hold it from toppling over.
Carl’s got the idea now and throws some wicked kicks inside. Once he figured out the hips he even got the side kick working in the clinch.
I gave him his question for his black belt test last night so now he’s got something to think about.

We finished the night with about 30 minutes of sticky hands, elbow flow and trapping. That’s the only work I actually did last night. Going to focus more on my self tonight! Problem with teaching is you don’t get all the work in you need at times.
We’ve decided to train FEUR on nights with a T from now on.
That leaves the other days free for me!
